In this economy?! Yes, and here's why: A 6" coaster is big enough to function as a placemat beneath a big old bowl of hot soup if you're the kind of person who eats dinner at your coffee table and don't want to traumatize the wood. It's big enough that you can aim your glass or giant coffee mug at it out of the corner of your eye without looking too carefully; its hand-blown edges are fat enough that they function like the gutter-bumpers bowling alleys haul out for little kids. I work from home, and I have one of these bad boys beside me at my laptop all day long; I have another on my nightstand next to my bed for my jewelry / chapstick / ear plugs / rocks. I acquire one per year, usually when they're half off online in the spring (pro tip), and I pick them up in-store, and they are STILL punishingly expensive, but they are some of the most useful and beautiful objects in my apartment.
